Barcelona to Host Inaugural Game at Partially Completed Camp Nou this Saturday
Barça revealed they will play at the still-under-construction Camp Nou on Saturday. Athletic Bilbao will visit Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish league over two years since relocating to allow renovations to start.
“We envisioned this comeback. The moment has arrived. Home again at Spotify Camp Nou.”
The stadium will not be at full capacity though over 45,000 attendees will be allowed to watch based on approved permits. After final construction, it will accommodate over 104,000 attendees, up from the previous 99,000. Officials confirmed finished work included an updated entryway for the team plus modern locker rooms.
Preparatory Events
Barça organized a public practice on the home pitch in early November. Officials stated they are seeking authorization from Uefa to play their next home Champions League game facing Eintracht in December at the stadium. They have been hosting matches at Estadio Olímpic Lluís Companys.
