Eulogies Flow for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Remain Under Wraps.
Over a fortnight following the shocking loss of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community are still paying respects to the couple.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Sharing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, explained he just recently felt prepared to post publicly about his profound loss.
"Sufficient time has elapsed that I can at last articulate my loss into words," posted Elwes, saying that his initial encounter with Reiner made him fall in love. "Once we started passing more hours together I knew this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor posted never-before-seen clips from the production, adding that he doesn't recollect "one day without mirth".
"This story is about affection, allegiance and giving. Principles that Rob valued immensely. Which is among the many reasons he was the perfect person to guide it," Elwes expressed.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, stating: "Asserting that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still aches every time I recall you." He ended with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Friend and Collaborator
In a separate essay, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the main character.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked seamlessly with everyone, and he understood the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Sealed
Recently, a Los Angeles judge decided to block the disclosure of the Reiners' autopsy reports, after an appeal from the local authorities.
A judicial mandate put a security hold on the investigation to restrict the public release of "all case details, documents, files or images" pertaining to the active case.
The coroner's office had already determined their deaths were the consequence of foul play, with a public database citing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Fallout and Commentary
In the wake of the deaths, public individuals offered different comments.
Ex-President Donald Trump posted on the matter, providing divisive statements that were broadly criticized by several public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his voice to the critics last week. Talking on his program, Rogan described the remarks as "disappointing" and suggested they showed a worrisome deficiency of sympathy.
