Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Allegations Involving Player the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening confirming they are aware of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in communication with the NFL.

The organization did not mention Rice specifically in their statement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Instagram

The woman, who likewise did not name Rice by name, posted a series of photos on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable

No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Rice's Prior Off-Field Troubles

The receiver missed the first six games of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals hurt. Rice was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

On the field, Rice concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
